I'm Alison Miller, MSN, RN-BC, owner of PMHRN, LLC. I've been an RN for more than 38 years and have specialized in psychiatric nursing for 28 years. And I can't imagine a career that could have been more interesting, stimulating and gratifying than nursing.

After I earned my masters degree in psychiatric nursing (University of Illinois-Chicago, 1993), I started working as a clinical instructor, helping nursing students to understand the complexities of caring for patients suffering with mental health problems. And that's when I discovered a whole new level of passion for my work--teaching.
​
There's never been a more exciting time to be a Nurse Educator than right now. The nursing profession has been energized by the increasing numbers of nurses who are becoming board certified in their area of specialty (with psychiatric nurses leading the way!) Becoming Board Certified increases our competence, which gives us a greater sense of confidence.
